Tier 1 LEC Call Flow Designer
A Tier 1 LEC recently embarked on a project to replace their outdated pre and post paid calling card platform. They were paying exorbitant maintenance fees to their current hardware vendor on outdated equipment. Their requirements were:
- Next Generation SIP centric platform
- Ability to interface with their existing rating system
- Ability to support TDM and SIP "out of the box"
- Flexible architecture allowing integration with their customer service system
- Easily able to change call flows to adapt to future requirements
- Ability to support both TDM callers as well as SIP to the home callers
ThinkEngine stepped in with a combination of the Call Flow Designer and SIP application server to meet their needs. Working closely with their personnel, we developed the call flows that accurately mimicked their old platform and connected to their existing billing, rating, and customers service engines to create a seamless customer experience.
While the project was ambitious, integrating with many legacy systems, ThinkEngine was able to enable the customer to go from concept to deployment in under nine months. This is record time in the carrier world! Call flows were meticulously documented and recreated, interfaces to rating engines were implemented, and customer service interfaces were designed, tested, and deployed - saving this customer money, rack space, and maintenance costs. The ThinkEngine solution replaced 20 racks of equipment with one rack - all while increasing functionality and positioning the carrier for next generation architectures.
